Every Victorian brides dream. To have a pretty basket to hold fruit, candy, or simply decorate her table. These were very popular wedding gifts in the late 19th to early 20th Century. This one has a beautiful silver plate holder from what looks like the Homan Silver Plate Company which was in business between 1896 to 1904. Makes it easy for us to date the piece.
The bowl which fits very securely into the holder is the original. It is made of hand blown pink cased glass with an elaborate ruffled top.. It has a top diameter of 8 1/2".
The frame, which stands of four open work feet has a height of 11 1/2". The frame is in good condition, but most of the plate has worn off. I like them that way, but some people prefer to have them re-plated. It is up to the buyer.
The bowl appears in good shape. There are no chips or cracks of any kind and the piece has a wonderful vibrant color.. Great for all you Victorian fans.
