Presenting a very pretty gold filled bar pin/watch pin from the Victorian era, - late 19th to early 20th Century. The piece was designed to hold a ladies pocket watch, which was a recent invention and became very popular with the ladies.
The piece is bar shaped with a barrel clasp closure and hook on the back for the watch. Nowadays most women wear it on its on, on lapels, etc. At that time it usually was worn under the collar.. Think of those Gibson girls. There is pretty black enamel work, known as taille d'epergne. It looks to be all there. It is in fine vintage condition and weighs 6.5 grams. It measures 2" by 1/4".
