This vase is quite rare and unusual. It dates from the Meiji period in Japan, late 19th to early 20th Century. It is similar to ginbari, with foil and enamel work, but done over a porcelain background as opposed to metal as with ginbari.
The vase has a cylindrical shape and a pale pink porcelain interior. The out side is a pretty silver foil, fading to light pink. It has gorgeous painting of what looks like orchids done in shades of pink.
The piece stands 7 1/4" tall and has bottom measurement of 2 1/2" by 2". It is in good antique condition, but has a minuscule flaw on a section of the bottom silver foil, as can be seen in the last listing picture.
