Presenting a lovely Victorian mother of pearl card case. This case was designed to hold calling cards or visiting cards; a wonderful Victorian custom. Similar to a business card of today, the Victorians would present their card to the house servant to let the owner know the were present. Remember, there were no phones or email.
The case is made up of sections of iridescent mother of pearl and has engraved initials on the front. The initials are E.C.B. It has a hinged top and a faded velvet lining. The top does stay securely closed, but does not latch firmly. If you desire to use it for your modern business cards, you would need to trim the cards slightly.
It is a pretty accessory despite its referenced minimal faults, and would look pretty on your vanity or in your purse.
