This attractive frame and miniature painting date from the late 19th Century and come from India during the time of the English occupation. The frame is nicely carved with an interesting curved and scrolled pattern. It has two front carved feet and a brass pull out kick stand so it is able to sit nicely on your table top,
At the center of the frame is an oval miniature watercolor depicting the Taj Mahal, probably the most famous sight in India. The painting is done in shades of blue, white, green and pink. The painting measures 1 1/2" by 1" and the frame measures 4 3/8" by 3 1/4". I am including the feet in the measurement.
It is in good overall fair condition, however there appears to be some varnish or other paint media on the right side of the painting, which might or might not be removable. I’ve tried to price thes piece accordingly. The frame is fully intact with some tarnish to the brass kickstand. Would make a nice addition to your miniature collection.
