This is an attractive large size gilded dresser box, dating to the Art Nouveau era. The piece measures 5 1/4" by 5" and stands 3 1/2" tall. Plenty of room for your treasured jewels.
The design features raised florals and vines, with a lovely carved shell on the front bottom section. It stands on four curved feet and has a monogram on top which is difficult to decipher. The underside is hallmarked W.B MFG. CO. 390. This hallmark is from the Weidlich Brothers Manufacturing Company, which operated in Bridgeport, Connecticut from 1901 until the 1950s - (This box dating from approximately 1910) The gilding is in good condition, except on the top there is some signs of wear.
The hinged lid opens to reveal a pink satin lining in surprisingly good condition for its age, with only some pin holes where pins must have been attached, and minor tearing on the bottom section of the fabric. It would make a nice addition to your antique decor.
