This beautiful pin or brooch dates to the late 19th Century, Victorian era. It is a framed porcelain rectangle with a gold border. The gold is testing at 10 karat. There is a hallmark on the clasp that is mostly worn away, but testing confirms the 10 karat content.
The black porcelain plaque has marvelous hand painted pink flowers, I believe roses, with touches of blue white and green to complete the picture. The gold border has an embossed design..
The piece has an c-clasp closure with an extended pin, indicating its early provenance. It weighs 12.1 grams and is in fine antique condition.
