This is a stunning example of fine French craftsmanship, dating to the early 19th Century. This is a Tussie Mussie or flower/posy holder. The piece is 5 1/2" in length.
Where shall I start to describe this beauty? First the enamel, which is fine kiln fired and has a white mid section with pink roses. The top and bottom of the enamel have a cobalt blue color with gold accents. Next comes the pierced gilt brass holder. I have never seen anything like this before. There are alternating panels of flowers and men on horseback. The figures on the horses have an Asian appearance and one looks to be holding a mug. Some of the brass is colored black, which I believe to be part of the original design.
There is a chain with a ring to hold on your finger and a chain with a pin to secure your bouquet. This is truly a collector's piece of museum quality. It is in very good antique condition, with no crazing to the enamel work Don't miss out on this opportunity.
