This card holder dates to the Victorian era, circa 1890, and was used to hold calling, or visitor cards. It would be very useful today to hold your business cards, and especially good for Antique dealers when set up at shows.
It is made of a gilt cast metal and has an adorable little bird on top of the four legged base. There is a shamrock or four leaf clover above him for good luck. I have shown it with modern business cards in a horizontal position, however I believe the smaller calling cards were put in vertically..
The piece measures 6 3/4" high and has a top width of 3". It is in fine vintage condition.
