This lovely piece is a combination teething ring and rattle. It was a very common baby gift in the early to middle part of the last century. It consist of a teething ring made of mother of pearl and a bell shaped rattle made of hallmarked sterling silver.
The bell shaped rattle, is also a birth record. It has been engraved on one side with the child's name, BARBARA. The other shows the date of birth, SEPT. 12, 1930. There is also an engraved pendulum style clock on the front. It is attached to the ring with a belt buckle style ring.
