This gorgeous pitcher was made in the Meissen factory at the end of the 19th Century. It is hand painted, and has courting scenes of couples on either side of the piece and a front and back panel done in that wonderful claret shade that Meissen does so well. There are beautiful hand painted florals on the claret panels.
The best part about this piece, to me, is the delicate swan shaped handle. It is simple, adorned with gold leaf. There are gold leaf designs adorning the bottom and just under the lip of the pitcher.
The piece has a height of 6 1/2" to the top of the handle. The bottom diameter is 2". We believe there was a professional restoration at one time to the spout/lip of the pitcher, well done and almost invisible, but mentioned for accuracy (I've shown pictures of the inside and outside of the spout). Other than this, the pitcher is in very good antique condition.
