This gorgeous inkstand dates from the late 19th Century. It is English in origin and made of ebonized wood.
The stand has an oval shape and a deep well in front, in which to place your pens. There is a large crystal inkwell in a hexagon shape. It has a brass collar. The stand is decorated with two large star shapes, made of pieces of mother of pearl with round brass studs. The border is outlined in small mother of pearl rectangles, with a brass stud at each end.
The piece rests on three flat round feet. It measures 13" in length and 10" wide. The crystal inkwell does not appear to be removable. It is 3 1/4" tall. The piece is in fine antique condition. It would look fabulous on your desk.
