Dating to the end of the 19th Century, this bear is sure to delight. He comes from the Black Forest region of Germany or Switzerland and was hand carved by a talented craftsman.

The bear has a hinged head that opens for you to place a small glass inkwell or inkpot. That is long gone, but fairly easy to replace if you intend to use it. Most people today simply have the inkwell for a decorative purpose.

The bear is seated with his paws up, so you can place your dip pen there to rest. He has tiny black glass eyes and his mouth has carved teeth and a red painted tongue.

The bear has a height of 3 1/8" and is 2" wide and 3" deep. He is in very good antique condition.
