This is a beautiful and unusual dresser box or jar from the Victorian era. Late 19th Century. It is made in the shape of a large egg and meant to be a box to hold your possessions.
The piece is hand blown and done in a fabulous medium shade of blue. It has an overall hand enameled design, done in gold, depicting small flowers and leaves. Both top and bottom have a brass collar with a pull up latch opener. There are six hand blown amber glass feet. Very unusual; I have never seen one like that before.
The egg measures 7" in length and 5 1/2" in width. It is about 5" high without the feet. With the feet the piece is about 6 1/2" tall.
It is in overall wonderful antique condition. The egg seems perfect, there are some small lines on a few of the legs, but nothing significant.
