This is a gorgeous dresser jar or box, dating from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th Century. It was manufactured by the C.F. Monroe Company and known as Wavecrest. It has no markings, but many had paper labels that are since long gone, or were marked on the bottom with the markings faded over time.
This jar is super large, measuring 7" in diameter and standing 4" high. It is hand enameled glass, done in a very very pale green shade; unusual for wavecrest as most are white or off white. The top has a swirl design, known as the Helmschmied Swirl. The design shows pretty pink flowers with blue/gray stems and allover raised white dots.
The top and bottom have wide brass trim and a pull open latch. It retains its original pale pink satin lining.
It is in remarkable condition for its age. The brass is still shiny and the lining shows minimal wear. Wouldn't it look beautiful on your dresser?
