This charming piece dates to the end of the 19th Century and was made in China. It is hallmarked SILVER and #62.
It is a clip, usually referred to as a dress or fur clip, but may also have been used to clip on a belt.
The piece has a fabulous carved lapis scene showing a sail boat with a large wave crashing against it.. It was made by a skilled carver. There is a small piece of lapis missing from the side, but still looks quite beautiful.
A silver frame was made to surround the carving and there is a clip that opens at the back.
The piece measures 1 5/8" by 1 1/4" and weighs 15 grams. Except for the missing carving it is in good vintage condition.
