This fabulous inkwell comes from the Black Forest region of Germany and was made at the end of the 19th Century. It is made in the shape of a fruit; possibly an apple or peach. You be the judge.
The inkwell is quite large and will make an impressive figure on your desktop. It measures 9" by 5" and stands 4" high.
The hinged fruit opens to reveal a large glass inkwell which can be removed. The fruit sits upon a single large leaf with two smaller leaves at the rear. Just a wonderful piece of 19th Century folk art for you to enjoy. It is in good antique condition, with one leaf showing a small loss at the end of the leaf.
