This is a pretty handbag or purse, dating to the beginning of the 20th Century. It is silver mesh and I although it has no hallmarks, I have acid tested the frame at 800+ silver. The texture on the mesh is too fine for me to acid test, however I would guess it to be not fine silver.
The piece has a length of 7", excluding the long silver mesh strap, which is 5 1/2" long. At its widest it measures 3".
The frame has a lovely embossed design of flowers. There are three balls at the bottom of the purse and the handle has two square shaped plaques with an etched flower on each. The top one can slide up and down. It has a ball latch closure that is very tight and secure.
The piece weighs 3.001 troy ounces and is in fine vintage condition.
