This watch fob dates from the late 19th to early 20th Century. It is made of gold fill and contains what I believe to be a genuine amethyst stone. I think it would look amazing as a pendant on a chain for a ladies neck. Just remove the chain at the top. It would work equally well as a fob, at the end of a gentleman's pocket watch.
The fob measures 4 3/8" in length, including the top portion. The center faceted amethyst is approximately 8mm in size and light purple in color. It is bezel set and surrounded by an elaborate gold filled frame. It sits upon the gold filled mesh ribbon.
There is a hallmark at the end of the chain where one attaches the watch, which I believe reads D & C. The piece weighs 11 grams and is in good vintage condition.
