This is a well painted portrait miniature dating to the 19th Century. I believe it to be French in origin. The painting is done in watercolor on paper. I have not opened the back, but there is no visible signature on the front.
The portrait show a woman with an elaborate hairdo, possibly a wig, in a gray color. She is wearing a hat with flowers, and has a blue ribbon tied around her neck.
The portrait is housed in an oval brass or bronze frame, French in design, with a bow on top. The frame has a kick stand, so it can be placed on a table. It also has a ring to allow it to be hung on a wall.
The picture measures 2 1/2" by 2" and the frame measures 3 1/4" by 2 1/4". Both are in fine antique condition.
