This is a beautiful carving of a female done in malachite. I am not sure of the age of the carving. It may be Victorian or art nouveau, but it is mounted in a modern setting. Stylistically, this is typical of some Russian works.
The figure has lovely, long cascading hair and a charming face. It shows the work of a very fine craftsman. She resembles a goddess.
The carving has a sturdy 14 karat yellow gold backing and a large double bale. It is marked inside the bale with a worn mark which may be "14K", but hard to see. It has also been acid and electronically tested at 14 karat. It looks to have about 4 grams of gold, possibly a bit more, but that is it is somewhat hard to judge.
The piece measures 2 3/8" long, including the bale and is 1 1/2" wide at the base. It weighs 42.8 grams. It is in excellent vintage condition.
