This is a nice clear image of a gentleman dressed in uniform. I don't know if he is a soldier, musician or both. He is in a studio setting and holding a bugle. He is wearing a military or band type jacket and his hat has some writing on it. In his right hand he is holding a bugle. The tintype probably dates to the 1870's or 1880's.
The tintype is housed in a sixth plate double latched leather case. The front cover has a floral embossed design, while the back cover is plain. The inside has a red velvet floral design pad.
The image is in good clear condition. There are a couple of light horizontal bends to the tintype, really only noticeable when viewed at an angle. The case, measuring 3 3/4" by 3 1/4", has a professionally restored spine, otherwise it is fairly clean.
