This is a sixth plate occupational tintype, tin type of two men holding various tools. I believe them to be carpenters. They are leaning on a fence and the image was taken outdoors as opposed to a studio setting. It dates circa 1880.
The image is housed in a sixth plate leather case with a double latch closure. The closed case measures 3 1/2' by 3". the brown case has a front cover with a grape motif and a back cover with a scroll design. The leather spine has been carefully replaced. The interior red velvet pad has an urn at its center, it is somewhat faded. The tintype is very clear and has a nice metal frame surrounding it.
