This purse frame is just fantastic. It appears to have a hallmark, as shown in the last two images, however I do not recognize the mark and it may not be a hallmark (if any customers recognize the mark, let me know and I'll add to the item description). In any event it has been carefully acid tested to be at least 800 silver, and stylistically was probably made on the continent, in the late 19th Century.
The attention to detail is just phenomenal. There are 10 small cupids, or putti an either side of the frame. The five in the center are playing "ring around the rosy", and the other five are playing musical implements. The pierced design features leaves, scrolls and flowers. The clasp is a push down style. There is a small face below the clasp. Each time I look at it I see more detail. There is also a small rose centered silver tab on one side, used to pull the bag open.
The frame measures 7" long and is 2" wide at the center. It weighs a hefty 5.33 troy ounces or 167 grams. It is in fine antique condition.
