This is a wonderful cased 6th plate tintype/tintype of a girl and her prized doll. It likely dates from the 1880's.
The girl is sitting in a fringed back Victorian chair and holding a rather large dark haired doll dressed in white. The girl also has dark hair and is dressed in a white collared dress.
The image comes cased in a dark brown leather case with an embossed scroll and cross design on the front and back cover. It has a single latch closure and an embossed red velvet pad on the inner cover.
The image in its matt and preserver, measures 3 1/4" by 2 3/4". The tintype is in wonderful condition and the case is in good condition with slight wear to the velvet pad. The leather hinge is likely a well done replacement, as these tended to separate over time.
