This interesting throwback to another century is a Victorian watch fob. It was worn at the end of a watch chain.
The fob consists of a rectangular woven hair strip, showing several types of intricate hair weaving. It measures 2 1/2" by 3/4". It is banded in what looks like copper.
Attached to the bottom of the strip of woven hair is a delightful little gold filled locket fob. It has a pretty etched front design and opens so pictures can be inserted.
The top part of the piece has a gold filled hook and chain to attach to the watch chain.
I have seen pieces like this put on a chain and worn as a pendant. It makes for an attractive and interesting conversation piece.
Overall length is 4 3/4". The top chain adds another 5". It is in wonderful antique condition, showing no fraying to the hair, and minimal wear on the gold fill.
