Presenting this terrific carving set from the late 19th Century. It is two pieces, a fork and knife, and made from stag horn with sterling silver trim.
The knife is marked HARRISON BROS. & MOWSON CUTLERY TO HER MAJESTY (does this refer to Queen Victoria)? Also, the knife bears the added inscription "EL TRINCHANTE INCOMPARABLE".
The fork is marked HARRISON BROS. MOWSON.
The knife and fork both have beautifully embossed sterling handles and ferrules which have the English diamond shaped 19th century registry marks, which are not clear enough, however, to read an exact manufacture date. they test as sterling.
The fork is 11 3/4" long, it is in good antique condition. The knife is 16" long. It has a small piece of silver (about 1/4")missing from the ferrule. Otherwise, the set is in good antique condition.
This would look wonderful at your table for any holiday, or for any dinner.
