This 9 1/2 inch high unsigned Japanese Satsuma vase was made in the latter part of the 19th century. It has two handles and two cartouches with hand painted scenes done in vivid colors and raised enamel. One scene shows a scholar and his pupil, while the other looks like two oriental dancers. The background of the piece has green beading around the neck of the vase and the body has a raised moriage style enamel work design.
The condition is excellent with no chips, lines or cracks.
