This is a delightful pair of antique pitchers made in the style known as "Mary Gregory". Mary Gregory was an illustrator of children's designs in the mid to late 19th century. These designs copied onto glass at later times retain the categorization od Mary Gregory style.
The pitchers are a gorgeous mid green shade and are sometimes called lemonade pitchers.
They each measure 9 3/4" in height and have a base diameter of just over 3". The tops are ruffled and they are hand blown. You can still feel the hand blown pontil marks, so be careful.
What makes them so special is the elaborate enamel painted decoration showing a young girl holding a flower and standing amongst some trees. These childhood designs are what is referred to as "Mary Gregory" designs.
The pieces date to the late Victorian era, circa 1880 and are in fine antique condition. They would make a fine addition to your summer parties filled with punch, etc.
