This wonderful piece of Native American jewelry is signed DS and sterling. Another Ruby Lane customer has been so kind as to confirm my research that this piece was made by Navajo silversmith Dorothy Secatero, and likely dating to around 1980.
The piece is just gorgeous. It consists of a paperclip style chain with a lobster claw clasp, marked 925. At the ends of the chain are two feathers, done in gold leaf and marked on the back, 12 K GF. Suspended from the feathers is a pear shaped pendant showing an eagle in flight. Part of the pendant is done with the gold overlay. It is hallmarked Sterling and DS on the pendant.
The necklace is 21" long. Each feather is 1 1/2" in length and the pendant is 1 1/2" in length.
The piece weighs 18.7 grams and is in wonderful vintage condition.
