It is my pleasure to present to you this fabulous brooch/pin from the Georgian era.
The piece is made of tested 9 karat yellow gold . It is an oval shape with a glass compartment at its center, containing finely woven gray hair. The center compartment is surrounded by black stones, which I believe to be black garnets. The top of the brooch has one row of stones, while the bottom row has two rows. The stones measure about 3mm in size on the inner rows, while the bottom row has 4mm size stones.
The piece closes with a c-clasp and has an inscription, which reads, Helen K. Ros 18th Oct. 1813. How poignant to find these glimpses into the past.
The brooch weighs 4.4 grams. It measures 1" east to west and 3/4" north to south. It is in fine antique condition.
