This lovely two piece matched set was manufactured by Alvin Silver Co. and dates to the early 20th Century.
It consists of a powder or dresser jar and a hair receiver. They both have brilliant cut glass bases, done in an intricate pattern, with a starburst bottom.
The hallmarked sterling tops also are marked Alvin. They have a lovely etched design with stripes, and a wreath like border with leaves. The powder jar has a central cartouche with a monogram reading MGJ? The hair receiver has a cartouche below the cut out hole with the same monogram. There is what appears to be a new white powder puff in the jar with a lingering floral odor.
The hair receiver stands about 2 3/4" high and has a 3 3/4" top diameter. The powder jar is about 3" tall with a top diameter of about 4". they are both in very good vintage condition.
