Here is a delightful carved stone seal from a Canadian Inuit artist. It is signed on the bottom with a carving number, EO-759, '61 (1962), and the artist name, although I cannot make that out clearly perhaps you can (see images).
He, or she, is depicted in a reclining position with right fin / leg resting on side and is looking straight ahead. The stone is black and gray-green with nice striation of color (see images). The loop on the small end may indicate that this was meant to be a piece for everyday use, such as a weight for a fishing net, etc.
This sassy seal is 4 1/2" to the top of its head, about 7" in length, and about 3" in depth. There are no chips, cracks, flakes, or other damage that I can detect.
A great start to or addition to your collection!
