Here is a very rare find!
An Official Program of the Sixty First Kentucky Derby. It is dated May 4, 1935 on the front cover. The full color front cover features the winning horse of the 1934 Derby, Cavalcade, and his jockey. This program features several articles about the history of the Derby, Churchill Downs, important figures of the era, Derby Officials, Famous Kentucky Scenes and Shrines, and more. There are so many fantastic old ads, some in full color, for everything from Ford Motors, Chevrolet, Sinclair Oil, Peerless Products of Kentucky, Budweiser, Chris-Craft, Gulf Refining Company, Chrysler, Standard Oil, White Horse Scotch, Cadillac, Kentucky Tavern Whiskey, Blue Grass Perfume by Elizabeth Arden, American Airlines, and too many more to mention!
This 100 page magazine style program measures 12 7/8" by 9 5/8". It is in Good condition, with a crease on the upper front corner, a small dent and what looks to be the imprint of a name and address, some edge wear, and about 2" of the shiny covering of the spine missing.
What a rare and wonderful addition to or start on your Kentucky Derby Collection! Or a very special gift for your favorite Derby fan? A real coup!
Enjoy each day!
