Pakula / Hollycraft Christmas candle tree pin features multicolor rhinestone "ornaments" and baguette rhinestone candles with red enamel "flames" in antiqued gold tone metal. This Pakula signed Christmas candle tree pin pictured on Page 119 of Nancy Trowbridge's, "O Christmas Tree" and on Page 42 of Mary Morrison's, "Christmas Jewelry" signed Hollycraft. There is also one with red and green rhinestones signed Pakula in Mary Morrison's book on Page63.
The connection between Hollycraft and Pakula has been the subject of much discussion in collector groups and we have had the great fortune of having Joyce Choriban, daughter of one of the owners to tell their story and authenticate unsigned pieces. Pakula was a Chicago company (lucky for us!) founded in the 1940s that Hollycraft private labeled for. Many of the exact Christmas tree pins that are signed Hollycraft are also signed Pakula and they are all authentic. In fact, some examples of these vintage Christmas tree pins have been found with blanks in the signature space! The Hollycraft mold of this particular Christmas tree pin is well-documented in books on vintage Christmas tree pins. This tree came both multi-colored and in red and green rhinestone combinations in gold tone. An unsigned version in Aurora Borealis clear rhinestones can be seen on Page 107 of Mary Morrison's book. The Hollycraft/Pakula candle tree pins like this are all among the harder to find designs by these companies and definitely among the most highly sought after.
This vintage Pakula Christmas tree pin measures approximately 2-3/8 x 1-3/4" and has a safety closure. It is signed, "PAKULA" with a copyright symbol on a signature plaque on the reverse of the pin raised from the mold in the typical fashion. In Excellent Condition, this lovely vintage Hollycraft Christmas tree pin is easily one of the most highly sought after signed vintage Christmas tree pins by Pakula and/or Hollycraft and the matching earrings that arrived with this tree are listed separately.
A coveted vintage Christmas tree pin that discriminating collectors will definitely want under their tree to wear and add to their collections and pass down as cherished heirlooms!
