An outstanding 1940s execution in three-dimensions of sterling silver with a heavy gold overlay contrasts with mid-tone blue round rhinestones shooting from raised cone-like bezels in the center of the piece and cobalt blue navettes floating above curled, feather-edged petals. Really breathtaking. Multi-layered execution shows artistry and skill with attention to design and detail. Heavier than normal gauge sterling, the brooch weighs 32 grams and measures a full 3" across. It boasts a pristine gold wash in Near-Mint Condition although we are rating this pin in Very Good/Excellent Condition because the lighter blue, round rhinestones are a bit cloudy with age under magnification, but they are certainly still sparkly and wearable. Any darkness to the gold overlay that you may see is a reflection of the black camera. A truly fine example of superb 1940s costume jewelry design in sterling vermeil, that is simply knockout for lovers, and I am one, of this type of design and quality.
