Sweetheart sterling silver cut-work bracelet has a romantic period design of a courting couple kissing with a period attired gentleman with top hat and a woman in a lovely full-skirted dress. The man wears his long dress coat with his hat and cane behind his back and the woman is in her dancing dress with her ribbons or scarfs flowing behind her. Dating Ca. 1900, important gifts of this type were meant to bear the soul of a man in love to his sweetheart as a token of his devotion and special promise with each repeating link as he went off to sea or service. Nine links have the repeating cut out and the clasp has the same couple design in relief with a design of tiny squares etched in the background. This very detailed bracelet is beautifully and intricately crafted in sterling silver and measures approximately 7-1/2 x 7/8" with a secure box clasp closure. It has a wearable length of approximately 7-1/4" when the clasp is closed. It is lightly stamped "STERLING" as shown with magnification in our picture and weighs approximately 25.3 grams. It has also been tested as sterling silver. In Excellent Condition, this courting motif was a very well-loved period design, but not often represented in this way, which we think it makes this bracelet very special. A nostalgic image in a beautiful sterling silver bracelet that any woman would be thrilled to own and wear!
