This palace is "restored" in the artists mind to the state of grandeur of this past civilization. Vanderhoof breathed live into this piece, surrounding the palace with lush vegetation and a few birds flying high overhead. Mayans stand across the water from the massive palace. A wisp of smoke curls out of a tower. This must have seemed incredibly exotic 90+ years ago, it still does today. This 12 3/8" X 8" etching is aged to a rich ivory color that gives a slight sepia quality to the piece. It is matted to 22" X 17". An attached paper overlay describes and attributes the work.
