This beautiful vintage Chinese ceramic three color vase from the 1940s is made in the style of Tang dynasty san chai or san cai (three color) ceramics, with green, brown, and white glazes. It features two blue horses with white and brown mane and a white tail on opposite sides of the vase with a floral design in white on the other two sides. A garland of green and blue leaves encircle the top while a garland of smaller green leaves encircle the base. We think the vase had been buried because the outside and bottom of the vase were caked with red clay.
There are no inscriptions or seals on the base. There are no cracks or broken parts, but there are some imperfections in the glaze.
This vase is 8.5" H x 8.0" W. The base has a diameter of 4.25”. Weight = 3.95 lb.
