This vintage Chinese porcelain vase with lid in a melon jar shape was handpainted in the 1950s with birds, branches, and flowers in the center medallions front and back with leafy tendrils on a yellow background surrounding the medallions. The borders at the top and bottom in pink and light green reinforce the floral motif. The porcelain lid has a tapered painted knob to make it easy to open the jar. There are no chips or cracks and no stamp on the bottom of the jar. There is some faint discoloration to the base where someone wrote numbers on the bottom with a permanent marker that we could not remove completely. The jar measures 11.5" H x 9" W and is 6.5" W at the base.
