Daisy Painting Edwardian All Original.
This lovely Edwardian watercolor painting is a study of freshly gathered Summer daisies. (It is an original study, not a copy of another's artwork.) The coloring is soft and beautiful, unfaded, and the artwork nicely executed. It is signed M. Bowman (as denoted on the back Myrtle Bowman Sebern). Keep in mind that the paper texture is more pronounced in the photos than it really appears. This painting dates to around 1900-1910, and it is still housed in its original cream color painted frame with a gold inside edge, and has the old hand rolled glass. The back is also intact. At each corner is a burnished brass embellishment that has little roses and leaves. This piece is really much more beautiful in person, as the photos just can't capture the detail work and subtle shading.
This painting was found on a recent picking trip to Pasadena, CA, and came from an estate there. The back denotes it was framed at Clifton's in Pasadena, CA. There is a note affixed to the back that says "Myrtle Bowman Sebern for Jim Sebern". Overall size is 15.25 x 22.25 inches. Please excuse any glass reflections in the photographs. It is a wonderful old painting. Postage is an estimate, and any overages are always cheerfully refunded.
