Victorian Poppy Print Le Roy Chromolithograph Daisies.
This old chromolithograph has vibrant color hues, and is by the Victorian artist, Henri LeRoy. This print is entitled Poppies, and has scarlet poppies paired with white field daisies. In Victorian times, this type of poppy symbolized Fantastic Extravagance.
This print was an art supplement to the Syracuse Sunday Herald, and was printed in the 1890's by the J. Ottmann Lithographic Company of New York. It is in the classic half yard long format, and measures 10 x 16.5 inches. The printed area is in very good condition with minimal handling wear, a couple very slight, hardly seen wrinkles in the background. The left margin has a couple tears, one extends about 1/16" into the print. The right side has some tears and creasing, but all would frame out just fine. It's a beautiful print, and would pair perfectly with the rich hued paints on the market today. To preserve the integrity of this print, it will be shipped flat for protection.
