Antique Cupid Print Victorian Timoleon Marie Lobrichon Original Frame
Lobrichon Cupid Angel Fairy Print.
This very sweet antique sepia toned print is by the Victorian artist Timoleon Marie Lobrichon. It has been called Cupid's Love Story, and shows two little cupids whispering into each other's ears and pondering who might be their next love target! The scene is just beautiful with a rose festooned cartouche at the top, which includes a little bird nest. Around them are more roses on the branch they sit upon, and below them are two doves at lower right. A couple more birds are overhead at the right, and a little butterfly lower left. The cupids' bodies are chubby and soft detailed, with their little wings at their backs. This piece was printed in Germany in the late 1890's, with the title of Fruhlingsgezwitscher, which roughly translates to Spring Twitching.
The print is in VG condition with almost no wear, and is housed in its original antique burnished gold frame which still has its old glass. The edges have a nice scroll detail, and the frame and glass are also in VG condition with wear consistent for a piece of its age. Around the print is a softly textured faux suede mat that accents the sepia tones just right, and the margin edges of the print are also shown with the artist's name lower center. Overall size is 13.25 x 17.25 inches, ready to hang. Postage is an estimate, and any overages are always cheerfully refunded. Layaways welcome, please see our terms.
