c1890s Cabbage Roses Die Cut Roses Print Rose Forget Me Not Lily of the Valley.
This spectacular oversize large diecut print is just incredibly beautiful. It is from the 1890's period, is an antique chromolithograph, and showcases a basket of flowers. The basket ensemble has a freshly-gathered grouping of pink cabbage roses, forget me nots, and lily of the valley. The diecut is embossed, and some of the flowers have little dewdrops. The diecut is in VG++ condition with almost no wear and displays beautifully, and it is a large size. In Victorian times, the pink rose symbolized that the bearer was An Ambassador of Love, such a sweet sentiment. The diecut size is 7 x 9 inches, and the overall size with the composite frame is 14.25 x 17.5 inches. The frame is also in VG condition, the details having a lovely off-white antique crackled finish on a wide gesso moulding. As it is a crackled antique finish, expect it to have wear built into the frame for contrast (bottom edge has a little area made to look as if it has a chip). The frame compliments the diecut perfectly. Please excuse the whitish glare in the photos, it's only a reflection from the embossed areas on the diecut. The backing mat is a soft beige hue.
