Flowers and How To Paint Them Antique Book Maud Naftel Ten Chromolithograph Plates Rose Pansy Hollyhock Tulip Cally Lily Geranium.
This antique book from 1891 is entitled Flowers and How To Paint Them. It is authored by Maud Naftel, and was published by the Cassel Company. Inside are ten chromo's that are just gorgeous: roses, pansies, hollyhocks, tulips, geraniums, chrysanthemums, cally lily, anemone, and more. The colors in the chromo's are vibrant and unfaded, very worthy of individual framing.
Each plate is aprox 5.25 x 7.5 inches, they are just beautiful. The book cover boards are in VG++ condition. The inside pages of the book are in nice condition, with just scant foxing specks here and there. The chromo's inside are outstanding and very clean. The text block is holding well, unmarked, with floral illustrations on how to paint each study, holding well to the spine. The flyleaf pages have a little give, and the front one has a previous owner's signature. This hardbound, blue cloth covered book measures 7.5 x 9.75 inches. The value in this book is in the color plates, and its lovely instructional vignettes.
