What a great teaching tool and conversation piece! The first page of this text book after the title page entitled ‘TO THE TEACHER’ shows it to have been a text book for a Home Economics class. The author is Carlotta C. Greer, Head of the Department of Home of Economics, John Hay High School, Cleveland.
This slice of history will bring you right back to the roaring 20s, and era of gaiety and fun. The chapters labeled “MODERN HOUSEWIFERY’ ‘HOSPITALITY’ are comical and make for a great read! The book contains 635 pages along with 149 pictures.
It is felt that the condition of the book is quite nice, considering it’s age and use. The pages are crisp and clear; there are lots of comments and handwritten hints written in pencil by the teacher, such as ‘how to take and administer medicine”, the cover edges are worn and dog eared, but given it was a text book, the binding is in good shape for its age. There is a stain on the edge of the pages that bleeds into the body of the book by about ¼”.
