The Tibetan culture put value and importance in ornamentation. Wearing hand crafted jewelry is a display of wealth, while the intricate designs hold significant meaning. It would appear that this necklace is constructed from a silver alloy, which is actually quite resilient while keeping its integrity. This collar necklace is richly embellished with very detailed designs. Each heart shaped charm is etched with a bird, and again, alot of detail. The charms are attached with coiled wire, to allow for flow and ease in wearing. The center charm is circular with an independent repousse heart. Measuring a bit over 1 1/4" in width at the widest part, the necklace is rigid and will stay put when worn. It may have had, at one time, a bar on either side of the end pieces that had a loop clasp.
I've had this necklace for a very long time and wish more information were available to share. It is in vintage condition, with some slight irregularities in finish, as can be seen in the pictures. One thing for sure, it does draw admiring eyes when worn!
