Being offered is a spring loaded, of sorts, tool, or implement, that is used to stretch gloves. With gloves made from kidskin, these gloves were durable, yet delicate, and careful stretching would enable their owner to wear them more comfortably. When held in the hand, and depressed, the 'clamp' portion opens up once placed in a finger of the glove. There is a small hole or vent in the inner portion, as can be seen in the picture.
The English hallmarks (on the handle) indicate that it is sterling silver (lion), along with what looks like the letter r then followed by a torch, or maybe an anchor. The other side of the handle of this tool has the letters A&LL. The reverse side handles are hallmarked in the same manner.
It is in wonderful condition with an outstanding patina. The pattern is unknown.
