Wearing a picture of your deceased loved one placed in a picture frame brooch was commonplace a hundred years' ago.
What we have here is a lovely example of such a tribute. Tested (not marked) 14k gold, compared to 14k yellow gold, rose gold, to some, has more eye appeal. The sepia tone picture of the gentleman in this brooch is certainly enhanced with the rose gold twisted rope bezel.
This piece measures measures close to 1 1/8" and weighs 4.2 grams, including the picture. It is secured with an open C clasp. Picture is held in the frame with five little prongs. The picture is covered with plastic.
Given the age of this brooch, it is in very nice condition. It has light scuffs and one spot on the back, however the patina is wonderful!
