Gerity Silver has been producing a number of products since 1898, and in the case of silverplate, their style was reminiscent of the colonial days, with clean lines, and meant for practical use. What we have here is an ice cream knife, very ornate and and excellent reproduction. Research and close inspection leads me to believe this be made in approximately 1970. It would be spectacular if it were original, however the handle is a dead giveaway, being plastic and has a seam.
It is hallmarked with G 8 (a four leaf clover) and a 4, the maker's mark for Garity. It measures approximately 11 1/2" long and 1 3/4" wide. The knife is very special with its curves and filigree.
The patina is age appropriate. There are some scuffs on the knife from use, however certainly an attractive piece.
